Response and Recovery Planning
We create evacuation and preparedness plans for state and local governments, Indian Reservations and businesses. We consider all hazards, including induced or multiple hazard situations, such a fire that follows an earthquake and causes additional injuries. In addition, we foster partnerships with private industry, government and community groups to ensure that communication is as efficient as possible and that resources are shared appropriately. These plans create a chain of command and provide specific procedures to follow during an emergency, including one serious enough to call for an evacuation. The creation of the plans also includes staff training and exercises with local first responders. In addition, our plans concur with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) which establishes standardized incident management processes, protocols, and procedures that all responders—Federal, state, tribal, and local—use to coordinate and conduct response actions. Finally, the plans we create focus on business continuity and community sustainability.
